Niger State Government has reiterated commitment to supporting the implementation of Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project among other World Bank Assisted Projects in the State.
This was disclosed by the Farmer Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago to World Bank Team led by the Regional Director, West and Central Africa, World Bank, Mr. Chakib Jenane on a mission to Niger at the Government House in Minna.
The Farmer Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman expressed optimism that the World Bank intervention projects will go a long way in complementing efforts of improving the lives of the citizen.
He reiterated the State Government readiness to providing the needed support with a view to achieving set objectives stressing that the State Government will not relent in providing a conducive environment for the smooth running of its activities in the State.
Farmer Governor Umaru Bago appreciated the World Bank for the three key projects being implemented in the State. He re-affirmed the State Government’s determination for a sustained partnership and assured that the World Bank Support to the State would always be judiciously used.
The team was in Niger State to assess the level of implementation of three of its ongoing projects in the State including the Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) and the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP) respectively.
Earlier, the Team leader and Regional Director, West and Central Africa, World Bank, Mr. Chakib Jenane said the mission in the State was to assess the level of implementation of the World Bank Assisted projects with a view to exploring areas of strengthening partnership for the Goals.
He said, there impact of the projects in Niger State was already being felt by the citizens which according to him, covers many aspects including the preservation of the environment, agro climatic resilience project and diversifying the economy through supporting the livestock sector.
While appreciating the State Government for the support in achieving set objectives of the World Bank Program in Niger State, Mr. Jenane expressed satisfaction over the successes of the World Bank projects in Niger State and assured the State government of unflinching support.
Highlight of the mission included a power point presentation by the State Project Coordinator, ACReSAL, Malam Raji Shehu Adam among others highlighting an overview, achievements made so far and challenges being faced in the implementation of the project.
In the same vein, the Regional Director thereafter interacted with beneficiaries of the ACReSAL World Bank Assisted project at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, where some equipment’s including tractors presented to beneficiaries were showcased.
